Wish I'd read the other reviews. Too late! Please make sure that you take photos of your prized possessions cos once they disappear out the back he can do anything with them. Not to be trusted at all. Please be aware.

Absolutely appalling. The owner abused & assaulted my husband. We I took my wedding ring, engagement ring & a diamond ring in a few weeks ago. They are white gold & needed replating. My wedding ring needed resizing. A week later they were not ready. Another week later they had resized the wrong ring! They took £75 & told me they would do the work again. We went back as agreed. We were given a new receipt of the work needed but they kept our original. We asked for it back & the owner became enraged, arguing with my husband & being extremely rude. We left without it. My husband went to pick them on the given day (I was in hospital having has an operation meantime). The owner asked for the receipt. My husband showed it but kept it in his hand. At this the owner flew into a rage. He yelled that he would not give him the rings, that the rings were mine so I would have to go for them. My husband said I was in hospital & that he had shown the receipt, payment had been made & he wanted the rings. At this the owner became out of control. He shouted & threatened my husband. He actually came round to the front of the shop & physically grabbed my husband, he pushed & shoved him & tried to manhandle him out of the shop. My husband told him to get his hands off him repeatedly until he let go. My husband rang the Police. My husband complained of assault & insisted he get the rings. The Policeman told my husband to wait outside while he went in. He got my rings back for me eventually but the owner still insisted on keeping our receipt. Also, apparently, the CCTV was not working so that provided no evidence of the assault. My husband played an audio recording of the incident from his phone but the Policeman said it would be impossible to prove the assault took place without CCTV footage. There were some customers in the shop when it happened but they all left & so could not be asked to witness the incident. The owner is clearly an untrustworthy & unbalanced man. Don't go there!

I Had the claws done on a diamond ring here, wasnt happy as it was catching on things so went back, they guy said he didnt remember me and asked for the receipt, which i didnt have as he took it when he returned my ring..He said it was fine but i wasnt convinced so I went to 2 different jewellers ( H Samuels and F hinds) to ask for an opinion on the work and both said it was terrible, the claws werent symetrical and some werent repaired and they were done with different metals.. .. so went back to market jewellers and when i told him i wasnt happy with the quality of work, he was very rude and said you only paid £60.. as if that makes a difference seem as i had asked for the work to be done and that was the figure he gave me to do the work.... so im here to warn others, if you have a piece of jewellery that you value, dont take it here, ..they are not proper jewellers also I thought it was Market cross jewellers as a first glance thats what i thought they were, but i think its their intention for people to think its the proper jewellers market cross.. I will be seeking advice from the trading standards about this..
