My partner and I are in the process of selling our house so we can move to a new area. We have recently redecorated the kitchen and bathroom in our house, and decided to get roller blinds installed.

We had a few quotes in, and decided to go with a local firm rather than a faceless national chain, and Galaxy Blinds seemed to have good reviews.

We chose designs, an appointment for measuring was made and we were given a quote. I paid the amount in full and it took about 2 weeks for the blinds to be made and then an install date was made. Measuring took about 10 minutes max, fairly painless. The price we were quoted was £155 which seemed reasonable.

Install date came and it took about 20 minutes if that to install the two blinds - the bathroom blind was relatively small and the kitchen blind an average sized window. Quite happy with the blinds themselves, good quality, nice style and good mechanisms on them.

I went to work next day and got a text from girlfriend who noticed a huge crack on the worktop where the kitchen blind is. The worktop has no support so i can only assume some weight has been applied to it to cause this during installation. I left a message with galaxy blinds as I was in a meeting, and was told that the boss would be in in on Monday and would contact me then. I sent them photos of the crack, and we have photos from our estate agent showing no crack there previously a couple of days prior. On Monday, I called up and was told the boss can come out on Tuesday in order to discuss the matter. I took a day off, costing me over £120, in order to be in for the appointment. Come Tuesday morning, I was called to say there had been a mix up and the boss meant next Tuesday, making it 2 weeks since I reported the issue for someone to come and take a look at it. Apparently he is too busy doing paperwork to come out to speak to us, which is very disappointing, but furthermore I will need to take ANOTHER day off because of the mix up.

This brings me to today - as I mentioned we are selling our house and have redecorated the kitchen and replaced the flooring, so having a huge crack in our worktop is a massive fly in the ointment.

I will update this review with any action taken by Galaxy Blinds, however so far whilst we are very happy with the blinds themselves, customer service and remedial action has been very, very poor.    01-08-17
